Distribution in scandinavian waters
Maximum length: 5-10 cm.
Appearance: Bright green in colour. Slender at the root, and
grows wider towards the top (funnel shaped), with splits down the side.
Seen under a microscope, Monostroma grevillei has a single celled
layer, as opposed to sea-lettuce
with its two celled layer.
Depth: 0-1 m.
Environment: Monostroma grevillei generally grows on rocks
and cliffs or large algae.
Misc: It occurs during the late winter to early spring and reproduces
during March to May.
Classification: Monostroma grevillei is a
member of the green algae group.
