Common hermit crab

Way of life

What they eat

The hermit crab has a varied diet of small creatures and is even delighted by mussels and dead organisms. It has even been shown that it has the ability to filter small organisms, for example plankton out of the surrounding water. The hermit crab can therefore be classified as a predator, feeds on carrion and a filterer.
