Tolerance

Japweeds ability to tolerate varying salinities is obscure. Adult plants can tolerate a salinity down to about 20 per mill (2%) while retaining vital functions and can survive in concentrations down to about 9 per mill. Little is known about the effects of low salinity on reproduction, sprouts, bottom falling and young plants, but there are reports of sprouts surviving down to about 6 pro mill (0,6%).
From 0°C and up to approx. +25°C growth increases. The perennial primary shoots tolerate temperatures below 0°C.
