Appearance: The flounder is recognized by its rows of hoarse bumps along its lateral line, dorsal and anal fins.
Depth: 0-25 m.
Environment: Lives on a mixture of clay and sandy bottom.
Classification: The flounder is part of the dab group which is part of the boney fish group under the vertebrates. .
