Distribution in scandinavian waters

Maximum length: 95 cm.
Appearance: Behind the eyes, the plaice has 4-7 boney tubercles (bumps) that are placed in a curve. There are apparent red spots scattered on the upper side. Compare the plaice with the flounder.
Depth: 0-200 m.
Environment: Soft bottoms.
Classification: The plaice is part of the dabfish group which is part of the boney fish group under the vertebrates.
