Common limpet

Common Limpet- Patella vulgata

Scientific names: Patella is Greek and means saucepan, pot and bowl. Carl von Linné named the specie. The shells have been used by breast feeding women to protect sore nipples. Vulgatus is Latin and means widespread, common and well known.
