Rock lice -
Ligia oceanica


Scientific names: In Greek mythology there were giant birds that looked like women. These fair singing, but man-eating giant birds were called sirens. Certain sources that name the three or four sirens, calls one of them for Ligeia. Another Ligeia was the sister of the thessalonian water nymph Kyrene, loved by Apollo. Oceanica is Latin and composed of oceanus which means sea and -ica which means "belonging to".
