Skorv - Saduria entomon

Scientific names: It is unclear what the first element Sad really means. The British scientist Elford Leach suggested this genus name. Leach was well-read, especially in old Far-East cultures and imported words or part of from the Far-Eastern languages when he suggested possible scientific names. It is possible that Sad is an anagram, that is the letters from another word have been changed around, which is an art that amused Leach. Oura is Greek and means tail or bottom. Entoma means insect and onos means donkey and ram, both words are of Greek origin. The two parts of the scientific names can possibly be translated into ”tail or bottom ram”.

Other scientific names: Oniscus entomon or Mesidotea entomon.
