Distribution
Distribution in scandinavian waters

Maximum length: 3,5 cm.
Appearance: Grey-white to brown-violet or yellow in colour and occasionally with deviating banded colourations. Particularly thick shelled.
Depth: 0-50 m.
Environment: Lives on hard bottoms in an exposed environment, preying on barnacles and mussels along the waters edge. The dogwhelk bores holes into the barnacles or mussels and then consumes them.
Classification: The dogwhelk is a member of the gastropods under the mollusc group.
